Be AND Do Something // Psalm 46:10
One of my pastoral mentors caught my attention in a meeting where people kept proclaiming, “Somebody should do something about that.” He replied, “You are the somebody.” He tapped into a common weakness in human nature, which is to deflect responsibility for something we see that needs to be done. Obviously, this doesn’t jive with what God wants us to do. We are created to be unique individuals. God blessed you with certain cares, interests, and yes, even burdens. He wants those to animate you to work for Him. First, though, you need to discover what those are. This brings to mind the verse I chose for today: “Be still and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10). God wants you to quit running and rushing about under your own power. He wants you to acknowledge how He pieced you together so you can be someone who does something for, with, in, and through the Lord. So, what cares, interests, and burdens do you feel in life? How did God knit you together to be something for Him? Once you know that, what can you do for Him? Go, do that, and see what God has in store for you!
