Be Ready // Luke 12:40
Jesus told His followers to be ready for His return because no one knows when it will occur. I think of watching Braves infielders, Orlando Arcia or Ozzie Albies, get ready to field their position before Chris Sale makes his pitch. They communicate with each other as to who will cover the base if a runner is in motion; who will go into the outfield to take a cut-off throw if a ball is hit to the outfield. They get on their toes and shift their weight to be ready to move at a crack of the bat. They also pop their gloves with their first to make sure the pocket is ready to catch the ball. They do this for each batter, making sure they are ready for what ever comes their way. This is similar to how Jesus wants us to approach life — to be ready for whatever comes. Think ahead. Prepare for possible scenarios. Make sure your mind and body are set to speak and shift accordingly. No one knows what’s coming next or when it will happen, but if you’re ready, you’re ready!
