All Saints Day Observance // 1 Peter 1:3-5

Many churches will observe All Saints Day during their worship services today. All Saints Day is set aside for us to remember our loved ones who have gone on to be with the Lord in the past year, but also for the rest of us to look ahead with hope for our reunions with them and Jesus. True, days like today can rekindle the sting of grief, but also remind us that this world is not our home. As today’s verse states, we have a brand-new life and have everything to live for, including a future in heaven which starts now! Remember that God is keeping watch over you but is also keeping your tears in His bottle so He can share with you the perspective you miss in the middle of grief (Psalm 56:8). So, if you find yourself wrapped up in the in-between of grief today while seeking relief in the future, let today’s passage give you some soul-anchoring reminders: (1) Jesus was resurrected, conquering the finality of the grave, and (2) the day is coming when you — when ALL of us! — will be healed and whole!
