All I Need // Philippians 4:19

Do you feel like you have all you need? I think about my life and can call up a number of things I feel I need. Some are significant and some could easily be deemed by others as silly. When I read today’s verse where the Apostle Paul wrote that God will meet all his needs, a little context is in order. Paul wrote a letter we now know as the Book of Philippians while he was in jail. Paul was convinced his life was nearing its earthly end, yet in reading Philippians, you’ll find it’s full of joy. This helps point to the reality that hope is not some mere mortal optimism, but a state of being that reminds us God’s way wins in the end. We can struggle with the troubles in the world, but if we remember that God is preparing us for eternity, then we can find God’s heart at the center of Philippians 4:19-20, “And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus. Now all glory to God our Father forever and ever! Amen.”
