A Mended Mind // Philippians 4:8

Today’s verse comes from some beautiful wisdom about how to manage your mind when you feel consumed by angst, or even just notice that anxiety is creeping into your consciousness. The Apostle Paul said we need to fix our thoughts on things of Jesus…things that are true, honorable, right, and pure.

Do you need to fix your thoughts? Contextually, it means to set your mind on Jesus and the things of God and keep them there. But what if you’ve ruminated too long on things that are dishonorable, wrong, and impure? You need to fix them, as in repair those thoughts. You do that by changing your focus, centering your mind on what is most important, and allowing those things to mend your mind.

So, focus on the things of God. If your mind isn’t centered there, ask Jesus to mend your mind and correct what’s wayward. Then, you’ll be able to discern what is true, honorable, right, and pure.
