A Confident Comfort // Hebrews 10:23
I hope this week’s journey through ways we can experience Christian hope has been helpful. Today’s verse encourages us to hold unswervingly to the hope we profess. I hope you picked up on the operative part of this verse which teaches us that the reason we hold onto that hope isn’t based on us, but on Jesus. It has everything to do with who He was, is, and will be forevermore. As the writer or Hebrews points out, “Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need” (Hebrews 4:14-16, NIV). We see that Jesus faced the same kinds of troubles and temptations we do every day, yet did not yield to them; therefore, we have a Savior in whom we can find confidence and comfort. May that help shape your hope today so you can confidently go to God even with the problems you have in life and find the comfort only He can give!
