Luke 20: Advent

Chapter 20 begins with a challenge to Jesus’ power and authority. In such circumstances, Jesus was prone to answer a question with another question, which He did here. We see the religious elite show their concern of the people, so they didn’t answer out of fear. Jesus took that opportunity to tell a story to further reveal God’s plan. The religious leaders didn’t give up, but tried to trap Jesus with questions on taxes, marriage, and the afterlife. They realized they were unable to trap Him, so Jesus turned the tables again, asking about the Christ and calling out their hypocrisy.

As you read, take note of the ways they attempted to trap Jesus. How did Jesus respond?
