WHY CRUCIFIXION? // Good Friday

Click here to read this evening’s text in full from Matthew 27:27-54

  1. Jesus’ Crucifixion Proves His Sacrificial Death is Sufficient for Your Salvation
    • Priests inspected the sacrifice, not the sinner.
    • Jesus is the perfect sacrifice once and for all
Hebrews 10:11-14 (MSG) | Every priest goes to work at the altar each day, offers the same old sacrifices year in, year out, and never makes a dent in the sin problem. As a priest, Christ made a single sacrifice for sins, and that was it! | Then he sat down right beside God and waited for his enemies to cave in. It was a perfect sacrifice by a perfect person to perfect some very imperfect people. By that single offering, he did everything that needed to be done for everyone who takes part in the purifying process
  1. Jesus’ Crucifixion Proves Death is Defeated for ALL
    • Death was the separation from God
Revelation 1:18 (NIV) | I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.
  2. Jesus’ Crucifixion Shows the material world matters
    • Consider this Good Friday
    – Remember Ash Wednesday: dust is precious to God
    – Jesus’ death impacted the physical world
    • You matter to God, which is why Jesus died for YOU!
