Sorry 1 // Forgiveness Is vs. Is Not

Sorry: Old English, of West Germanic origin, from the base of the noun, sore. The shortening of the root gives the word an apparent connection with the unrelated, sorrow.
Colossians 1:13-14 (CEB) | [God] rescued us from the control of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of the Son he loves. He set us free through the Son and forgave our sins.
Forgiveness Does NOT Mean…
- You forget
- You no longer hurt
- You quit seeking justice
- You trust
- A one-time event
Isaiah 43:25 (GNT) | I am the God who forgives your sins, and I do this because of who I am. I will not hold your sins against you.
Forgiveness…
- Usually starts with the offended
- God forgives your sin
- The cancelling of your sin-debt
- You forfeit revenge
- Commit to good not evil
Colossians 3:13 (NIV) | Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.
