Bound Together // Proverbs 17:17
What comes to mind when you read today’s verse? For me, it is the one of climatic scenes in the movie, “The Lord of The Rings: Return of the King.”I’m thinking specifically of the scene when Samwise decided how to help a suffering Frodo to the summit of Mt. Doom. Sam cried, “Come Mr. Frodo! I can’t carry it (the ring of power) for you, but I can carry you.” Their journey started out as friends, but the adversity they faced forged them into brothers. When we think about our common bond in Christ, this happens for us as well. We are all siblings in God’s forever family, so this is how we can live into the promise of Proverbs 17:17. We are to love each other in all times and be there in times of adversity. May the love of God bind us together so we can help each other to the summits of our troubles and see our Jesus journey through to the very end, full of faith, hope, and love!
